For the record...

Writer's picture: Mrs.TMrs.T

Since joining the child-free community on twitter (@Childfreeblog) and doing a bit more research into the child-free (by choice) blogging community, I have discovered that there appears to be two main camps:

1. The Child-free life affirmers

These people and couples are child-free by choice and living life to the full. They are enjoying the upsides of a child-free life without slagging anyone off along the way. They are also sharing the negative experiences they have faced and offering advice and/or just a friendly show of solidarity.

2. The parent/mum-bashers

These people and couples are child-free by choice and taking the ‘holier than thou’ stance. They think choosing to have children is a terrible idea for everyone and seem committed to trying to convince everyone that their choice is the right one.

For the record, I’d like to confirm that I am very much in the former camp. However, that’s not to say I won’t be poking a bit of fun at parents along the way (I have a sense of humour after all!)

How can child-free couples and individuals expect others to respect their personal lifestyle choice, when they can’t do the same?

P.S Talking of poking fun... I absolutely love this NewsThump article: ‘We just got sick and tired of enjoying our lives, say young couple who are starting a family’ :)
